Progress and Changes

I have been working on designing my characters and I keep changing them, the first time I changed the was because I thought they looked too modern, young and cartoonish and I wanted to go for the vintage/traditional look. I was looking for inspirations and I came across this series of illustrations by Mattson Creative featured on grain edit blog.

I really love these illustrations, so I tried to do it the same way and I like the result more than the previous ones I did.

Now I am really struggling with the Queen and my cards’ backgrounds because they either look too plain, too modern and too busy.
